Redeemer Day 2004

“Let us glory in the Cross of Christ”

#

The Feastday of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Redeemer was celebrated on Saturday, April 23rd. The celebration included a Eucharistic Liturgy during which time the Sisters renewed their vows and Redeemer Associates made First and Second commitments or renewed their Commitments as Associates. This year three Associates made their First Commitment while six members made their Second Commitment. Following the Liturgy, Sisters, Redeemer Associates, family and friends gathered to share a meal and conversation.

#

Upon their initial commitment or renewal of commitment to the Redeemer Associates, members recited the Associate Agreement:

Recognizing in myself a desire for growth in my relationship with God and with the Sisters of the Holy Redeemer, I commit myself to share in the Holy Redeemer charism and mission through prayer, service and celebration, together with the Sisters and other Associates, while maintaining my own lifestyle.

This was followed by the Sisters’ Response:

#

Grateful for your response to God’s call, we, the Sisters of the Holy Redeemer, agree to assist you in your efforts to better understand our charism and mission and to encourage and support you as you pursue opportunities for spiritual and personal growth. We also invite you to share more deeply in our life through prayer, service and Congregational celebrations.

The Keynote Speaker was Edwina Gately, founder of Volunteer Missionary Movement and an outreach ministry to the marginalized in Chicago. Gately is a dynamic woman of faith who has made a great impact on the Associate movement. Those who attended have been inspired by the entire weekend conference.
