A Special Summer for Sr. Anne Marie Haas

The late weeks of spring and early weeks of summer were spent by Sr. Anne Marie Haas, CSR in Wisconsin at the Dominican Ashram.  This time was chosen in order to mark her 25th year of religious consecration by “coming aside for awhile” to enjoy stillness, quiet and an extended period for reflection.  The core community of the Ashram, although currently in transition, was comprised of 3 Dominican priests and 3 Sisters (two Dominican and one Franciscan.)

Soon after that experience, Sr. Anne Marie finalized plans for her Jubilee celebration.  A gala celebration was enjoyed by many on July 17, 2005.    The theme, chosen from the writings of St. Catherine of Siena, was “Clothe me with Yourself, Eternal Truth, Beauty above all beauty.”  The Eucharistic Liturgy held in the Provincialate Chapel was presided over by Rev. Dennis O’Donnell and the music led by the Gospel Choir of St. Benedict’s Church in Philadelphia.   Contributing to the beauty of the liturgy, a post-communion meditative dance was performed by Sr. Ana Dura, CSR and Beth Greiner, an employee of the Provincialate.

A delicious picnic meal, lovingly prepared by the Provincialate cooking staff, was enjoyed by those gathered after the liturgy.  Severe thunderstorms abated just long enough for everyone to enjoy their meal outside.

The evening entertainment was provided by the women most recently guided in initial formation with the community by Sr. Anne Marie.  Their skits and songs were a tongue in cheek rendition of the goings on in the Formation community.  A few inside jokes and family “secrets” were revealed,  proving once again the great generosity of spirit found in Sr. Anne Marie.  No one watching the play laughed harder than she!

Congratulations, Sr. Anne Marie.  May the next 25 years of your consecration to our Lord and Redeemer be as joyful and enriching as the past 25 years!  PROSIT!
