Sr. Barbara, Sr. Martina and Sr. Anne Marie
The American Province of the Sisters of the Holy Redeemer chose their new leadership team at the completion of the Provincial Chapter. The new Provincial and Council were installed as part of a special liturgy on Sunday July 23. Sr. Anne Marie will serve as Provincial Superior; Sr. Martina Nicklaus as Vicar Provincial; and Sr. Barbara Deitrich as Provincial Councilor.
The Chapter of Elections is held every five years. It is preceded by the Provincial Chapter of Affairs where the Sisters reflect on what has been accomplished in the previous term and focus on the direction they want to take in the future.
"It is a great privilege to carry the name of Jesus as Sisters of the Holy Redeemer, and to share in His ministry of healing through our sponsorship of Holy Redeemer Health System and in other areas where our sisters minister, " says Sr. Anne Marie. "As a religious community we view very seriously the responsibility to continue in the spirit and tradition of our first sisters while seeking to address contemporary needs- in particular those that go unmet."
Sisters on the Provincial Council also serve on the Holy Redeemer Health System Board to help provide direction and to ensure the health system's faithfulness to its Catholic identity and the healing mission of the Church. "Our long standing history of collaboration with the laity and calling forth lay leadership has enabled the mission of our founder Mother Alphonse Maria to extend far beyond what we could ever do as a small group of sisters," says Sr. Anne Marie. "We are committed to continuing this relationship so that together we will know how best to care, comfort and heal those to whom and with whom we minister." Sisters of the Holy Redeemer also minister outside of the health system, sharing the compassionate love of Jesus as educators and social workers.
“The love of God and the love of neighbor are but one single love; they cannot be separated from one another.”
