Redeemer Ministry Corps located in Huntingdon Valley, PA, begun in 1982 is a yearlong volunteer program that takes its roots from the Sisters of the Holy Redeemer whose legacy was started by Mother Alphonse Maria Eppinger in France in 1849. Her vision was to render assistance to the most helpless and to care for those for whom no one cared. RMC volunteers continue in this mission by journeying beside those who suffer whether materially, spiritually, or physically. RMC volunteers use their gifts and talents in service to others through ministries in health care, education and social service, tending to the needs of those who experience aging, terminal illness, sickness, and poverty in all its forms. RMC volunteers live together in community with the Sisters of the Holy Redeemer sharing meals, prayer, and fun!
The RMC volunteer year offers the opportunity to learn about God’s call to being present to those who suffer, and the way in which simply being present to someone can provide hope and healing. The volunteer year centers on meeting the spiritual and emotional needs of the person, in addition to material needs, providing a unique experience that can be integrated into any future endeavor. Learning the power of the ministry of presence assists volunteers in their own individual journey.
Faith, Service and Community are emphasized throughout the volunteer year and are an integral part of the RMC program. This is accomplished through days of reflection, retreats, service days outside of one’s daily work site, social events and fundraising activities. The best way that we know how to share our story is through the eyes of the more than 100 volunteers who have made the commitment to journey beside those who suffer in some way. We invite you to read the stories of our volunteers and come see why RMC is a Life Experience… And an Experience for Life and we hope that you will Continue your Journey, your journey of discovering God’s call for you, with Us!!
