Bethesda Project Shelter Program

Bethesda project buildingBethesda Project is a faith-based community in Philadelphia, PA, responding to the needs of the abandoned poor- those among the poor whose condition would otherwise go unrecognized and whose needs would remain unmet.  From among these poor we focus our energies on those who are chronically homeless.  We aspire to serve these brothers and sisters by establishing familial communities with them that provide quality housing and supportive services.

People living on the streets are typically cut off from the normal support systems which provide access to housing and healthcare services.  Underlying their isolation is the absence of a supportive environment that might sustain the recovery of these basic entitlements.  Bethesda Projects goal is to form communities with these frail and vulnerable homeless, stabilize their condition and assist them in moving from the street into long-term housing.  Bethesda provides a wide spectrum of supportive housing that permits and encourages residents to achieve their maximum potential for interdependent living.
